So, I have these boxes of stuff, and I gather I'm not the only one...
Anybody want to have a costume (and other clothes?) and music trading party? Scottie suggested sometime in January, which sounds good to me - December's already more than full! Thoughts, so far, were to bring costume bits to trade or sell, and to bring music to listen to and share, and of course food! I'd like to bring some regular clothes too, if anyone else is interested...
Scottie, would you be up for host(ess)ing us again? Or we could do it here - the good news is we have a hot tub(!!) but the bad news is I live in Cotati, about an hour north of Oakland.
Anyone else like the idea? Any other thoughts/suggestions? Dates?

Re: clothes and music swap
Tue, November 30, 2004 - 8:07 PMI'm up for it and regular clothes too would be good, I seem to have too much of everything! It doesn't matter where it is because coming from Lodi it's all far away, but I do enjoy getting out in the world a little. :-) I'm going to have some really cool dreadlock extentions put in sometime in January and I want to show them off so towards the end of January for this would be good for me!
Hey, I just had a thought, maybe we could post in here what kind of things we have to sell/swap or what we're looking for so we don't have so much to haul around. I have a little bit of everything, lots of tribal and cabaret style costuming components and some full costumes, tons of jewelry too. I also make a lot of different stuff so if anyone is looking for something I don't have I can probably make it! Just post away! -

Re: clothes and music swap
Wed, December 1, 2004 - 4:37 PMI have mostly regular clothes to swap. I don't have any BD stuff I want to get rid of yet. I have a bit of music to share, too.
If we're going to do the next Hafla here at my place, it might be good to do the swap elsewhere and give they guys a breather. And, I'd gladly drive an hour for a hot tub!! I'm sure we could arrange some carpools as well. -

Re: clothes and music swap
Wed, December 1, 2004 - 9:15 PMIt all sounds good - maybe you'll want to take some bellydance stuff off our hands! :-) I can make copies of music if we want.
I'm looking forward to seeing Shalala's new hair, so how about January 22nd or 29th?
It would be lovely to have you all here, if that works out! -

Thu, December 2, 2004 - 9:41 AMTansy, is there room to dance there? Maybe we should make it an all day "retreat" and do some dancing, too. -

Re: clothes and music swap
Thu, December 2, 2004 - 1:19 PMHot tub is always good, wherever it's going to be I'm there. The 29th will probably be better for me though, gotta have time to save up the money for my hair!
Hey, if there's no room to dance at Tansy's maybe there's a good dance club we could all go to afterwards and lay out some bellydance smackdown! -

Re: clothes and music swap
Fri, December 3, 2004 - 11:12 AMWe have this room called somewhat optimistically the Dance Room - it has mirrors and a high ceiling (yay!) but the floor is kind of, well, challenging, as if we had bodies buried under it or something. (The lumpy floor is because it used to be a garage, and when some previous owner converted it to a room, they didn't allow enough ventilation between the concrete and the flooring, so it's warping all over the place. Especially in winter. We've been meaning to fix it, but other projects are higher on the list...) It's better for improvisation than choreography :-) Right now it's full of stuff, but I can clear it mostly out by then - the mirrors would be nice for trying stuff on, too! So, want to try the adventures in flooring?
The 29th would be better for me too, especially since it'll allow more time to clean! -

Fri, December 3, 2004 - 11:52 AMMaybe we can find creative ways to use the lumps in floorwork ;) -

Re: clothes and music swap
Fri, December 3, 2004 - 12:26 PMHey, we could always make a contest of it. I'd be happy to donate a bellydance goodie as a prize!
(Loud trumpet fanfair)
HEAR YE! HEAR YE!
Let all be made aware that there is to be a contest! A contest of skill such as has not been seen in all the land before! Let she who can use the Floor-of-lumps-looks-like-there's-dead-bodies-buried-under-it come forth and entertain us.....with her creative use of....er....lumps!
